Despite its small size, this power plant generates 1100 SHP, weighing less than 200 kg – one of the benefits of a gas turbine engine is the wonderful power to weight ratio they enjoy over equivalent power output piston engines.
We are currently conducting several BE1900 Type Ratings for Southern Airlines in Melbourne – despite a preference for the full flight simulator, this training can be completed in the aircraft due to no simulator being available in Australia. The trainees have currently been getting great exposure to the aircraft – the training has so far taken them from Melbourne to Brisbane & back, stopping at many places in between to refine their IFR & instrument approach procedures under Cameron’s guidance.
