Why Limited Panel Flying Matters in Our Instrument Rating Training

One of the most poorly flown sequences in an IPC is the “limited panel” element. Often, this is glossed over, as pilots will be allowed to simply adjust a scan onto their 2nd attitude indicator (which is what it’s there for!) – but… there is a lot of value in learning how to fly on instruments without direct attitude reference, just in case.

A real challenge of itself, compounded when having to manage all the other flight management tasks such as radios, GPS, etc. Seemingly a “lost art”, we believe that the strongest pilots are well trained in the “basics”, using the traditional “steam driven” analogue instruments – the fundamentals of this used as the foundation to build upon for all the modern technology that follows.

This belief underpins our Instrument Rating training courses. We aren’t fast… but we will do it right! A full time Instrument Rating takes about a month. Get in touch if we can help!
